Hello list

I'm work with MPlayer 1.0pre8 on Windows.
I try to start playback automatically at the middle of a movie. Because
I don't know the length of the movie, I'm not able to use -ss. So I saw
-sb and because I know the size of the movie, I tried that one.
Unfortunately it seems to be broken. On a movie that has 8'843'252Bytes
(8.43mb), I tried "mplayer.exe -sb 4400000 movie.mpg" but get no video.
The output is:

Playing movie.mpg.
MPEG-PS file format detected.
MPEG: FATAL: EOF while searching for sequence header.
Video: Cannot read properties.

Opening audio decoder: [mp3lib] MPEG layer-2, layer-3
AUDIO: 32000 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 32.0 kbit/3.13% (ratio: 4000->128000)
Selected audio codec: [mp3] afm: mp3lib (mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3)

AO: [dsound] 32000Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)
Video: no video
Starting playback...

With other videos, mplayer exits withhout doing anything or shows only
kind of noise instead of a video...

Is there another way to directly start at the middle of the movie? In
slave mode, there's the command "seek 50 1", but that can only be used
if the video is already running...

regards
Marco

PS: sorry, sent from the wrong adress...
