hi marious and thanks for your response, but i think that what i want to 
know is not related to the subtitle program. ksubtile works good and 
intuitiv for me and i can type german umlaut in it.
the question is, how i can tell to mplayer to display german umlaut?

anyway i ll give jubler a try and report later!
