[MPlayer-users] Minor feature request: Option not to exit on EOF

I often download or save video files from the net or from dvb and watch them
at the same time. Most of the time when I watch a tv program, I try to catch
the current position by upping the playback speed to 1.33x or something
(very useful feature, that - thanks!). But it's slightly annoying that when
mplayer exits when it reaches the end of the file, even though the file is
still growing.

The same also happens when I seek towards the end with right/up arrow and go
tad too far.

(My) preferred would be that mplayer would keep polling for more data and
play it as it comes in. It might even reset the speedup (for example from
1.33x) to 1.0x.

Failing that, even just stopping on eof and staying there would be better
(for me at least) than exitting outright.

This could be a separate command line option, because I can see it is not
always preferred, at least when the file is not growing. I don't know if it
would be feasible for mplayer to automatically detect if the file growing or
not.

As a side: I don't suppose there's a plugin to normalize the pitch of the
sound when playing back faster speed? I realize that if the sound is played
back at 1.33x, it "naturally" sounds 1.33x higher, but I suppose it would be
possible to post process the pitch back to normal level?
