[MPlayer-users] Problem playing certain files through xv

Jeremy Hansen jebrhansen at gmail.com
Mon Jan 1 12:03:56 CET 2007

I have been pulling my hair out for a while about this. There have been a
couple of videos that if I play them with the xv out mplayer will crash,
however if I play them with the x11 it plays fine. One example is the Halo
Wars trailer. It can be found here...

http://download.microsoft.com/download/9/8/e/98ee533a-af33-4a28-8f6f-b2b5f56d988e/HaloWars_ESRB_720p30_ST_8Mbps.wmv

One note is all the videos I have run into this issue with are high def.

Well here is the output playing it with x11

jbhansen at therapist:~$ mplayer -vo x11 -v
