I think the problem Malcolm is having is that the packaged version of
mplayer on Ubuntu appears to work with mplayerplug-in on Ubuntu. He
moves to Fedora and the packaged version from Livna doesn't work. I've
talked to him on occasion, trying to analyze the problem from a
mplayerplug-in perspective and I have never been able to make that site
work even with compiling mplayer from SVN (even as of today). Basically,
what mplayerplug-in does with this site is that it gets the ASX file
from it and passes the ASX file to mplayer. mplayer just doesn't like
the ASX file. It might be that Ubuntu is using an older version of
mplayerplug-in that did some ASX file parsing and as of v3.40 we passed
the entire ASX file to mplayer because of some processing with some
other sites.
So the ASX file is valid and mplayer "should" be able to process it.
Just right now it complains about a size mismatch from the webserver
when the ASX file is passed with the -playlist option. As when mplayer
sees the size mismatch it aborts (which is a valid response). So either
the size mismatch is wrong or the site is just screwed up (I tend to
lean in this direction).
