Be gentle now, I realize it's probly a PEBKAC. Let me get this
out'a the way first.....

MPlayer dev-SVN-r24795-4.1.2 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7700 @ 2.40GHz (Family: 6,
Model: 15, Stepping: 10)
CPUflags: MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE SSE
(I update every day or so)

$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 2.6.23-6.fc8 #1 SMP Thu Oct 11 14:54:16
EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
   (Fedora rawhide, updated daily)

But the problem that has baffled me for months, OK 2 or 3 months.
Absolutely no problems with compilin svn update(s), an
mplayer/mencoder work flawlessly (Thanks). Well, cept contrast
(1-2), brightness (3-4), an snd volume (9-0) work as expected.
Tint (5-6) an color (7-8) don't. NBFD, I suspect it's a HW problem
anyhow. New T61 Thinkpad (kybd)?

Nope, the deal that's got me upsidedown an sideways is that if I
play anything flash (flash-plugin-9.0.31.0-release installed by
FF) even those without snd, mplayer goes silent. Complains it can't
open /dev/snd Logout/in to KDE 3.5.8 immediately fixes this.
Mplayer has sound again... till I stumble onto some fsck'n flash
app.

OK, I realize flash is a closed source proprietary B$ app... but
nobody else is seein this ??
