Thank you Dominik. Is this the required package:
http://svn.mplayerhq.hu/soc/amr/ ? What must I install from that page?
Then, how does one go about compiling? I'm sorry for the questions
that I know are at a beginner level, but the only info that I can find
regarding compiling is ./configure make make_install, not anything
regarding custom mplayer builds with unusual options. I'm on Ubuntu
7.04 with KDE if it makes a difference.

Would it be easier to install from SVN? How to do that and enable amr?
