Ok - Diego removed that extra bit of printing and the result is just 
'yes' - which is nice.

But for me I still get the seg fault when I try to convert the MPEG2 to 
H.264, exactly as I posted yesterday.

I apologise that I do not know how to dig much further - and I cannot 
investigate just at the moment because I am away for the next four days.
