Sorry, I forgot to say that I tried with both Debian Squeeze's version, 
as well as the PPA package for Ubuntu Maverick. Output from the latter:

I tried to cut a few seconds out of it to upload somewhere before I 
posted my question, but as I said, even just 'copy' output results in 
too fast video.
