There is a good reason why we ask for full MPlayer output.
The most likely reason for this problem is that you are using
an outdated MPlayer version.

My MPlayer version says
VIDEO:  [H264]  640x360  24bpp  29.917 fps  463.9 kbps (56.6 kbyte/s)
however downloading the full file takes too long.
