I may not have told you before (?), but please understand that 
FFmpeg and MPlayer compilation are completely independent.

If you cannot use git (and I believe I already told you that it 
is necessary nowadays for MPlayer compilation), please put the 
complete FFmpeg checkout that you find as "snapshot" on 
http://ffmpeg.org/download.html in a directory "ffmpeg" in your 
MPlayer directory, then run ./configure && make.
Don't forget that you may not be able to update this MPlayer 
version (that would need git), but you may of course replace 
the ffmpeg subdirectory anytime after running svn update.
