No tuning at all, my 5ALI61 is shit. I have to turn DMA off.

/dev/dvd:

 keepsettings =  0 (off)
 HDIO_GET_NOWERR failed: Invalid argument

 readahead    =  8 (on)
 HDIO_GETGEO_BIG failed: Invalid argument

But imho your problem is not this..
