nope.
the subtitles are stored in the mpeg stream, it's true.
but the language <-> -sid mapping table, and the palette (color of subtitle)
are stored in the .ifo files. and teh mapping tabel is bad, it says you bad
number for your language, and not only this, but i also lies about the
number of total subtitles...

it needs some specuial OCR soft...
i'm interested in such app too, but i have bo idea about handling italic
characters. we should get some windows dvd sub ripping proggys source and
port it to linux.
