[MPlayer-users] Exact resulting file format ???

That's because mpeg doesnt have _a_ header but repeates it
iirc every GOP (dont know exactly, ask some specialist).
So, the header doesnt need to be at the beginning but can
be anywhere in the file, and mplayer starts then to play
when it has enough information.

It's a linux bug, i wrote a patch some time ago, search the
mailinglist archive
