You could grab the old xmms .deb from archives of Debian (or probably the
equivalent from other distributions), unpack it manually (dpkg
--fsys-tarfile) in a separate directory, and do the same for all
dependencies that can not be satisfied with modern packages.

Another solution may be to try to re-implement the libxmms and glib API used
by the plugin. I tried that quickly but I hit a segfault that was not
obvious to fix, and I had other things more urgent.

Also, you may try to contact Kostya, I believe he is the specialist about
reverse-engineering codecs: he may have done something about mp3pro.
